Beaton and Pezzarello double up

Drivers John Willie Beaton and Mark Pezzarello each recorded a pair of driving wins on an eight-dash card of harness racing Saturday afternoon at Northside Downs.

Beaton drove Brother John to a wire-to-wire win in 2:00.1 in the afternoon feature race, finishing a length ahead of Dreamfair Van Dam and Accelerator.

Cowboy Gilles rallied from last to win in 2:02.4 for Beaton to give him the double.

Pezzarello led all the way with Florida Bound, who opened the afternoon by winning in 2:05 for owner Doug MacDonald, before guiding Classic Smiley to her third straight win, this time in 2:01, a half-length ahead of Zero Stress Nora.

Fans wagered $9,445 on the program.

The next live card of racing goes to post next Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
