CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – With a first-over assault Screen Test prevailed in the Boxing Day harness racing feature Thursday afternoon at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Corey MacPherson was in the bike for the 1:56.4 score in the $2,650 preferred pace for trainer Stephen Gass and owners Kickin Horse Stable of York and William Andrew of Calgary, Alta. Winter Blast (Driven by Jason Hughes) was second while Rockin Indy (David Dowling) completed the triactor.
Marc Campbell continued his hot streak as he captured four wins on the program including three from his own Charlottetown stable. Campbell's catch driving win came aboard Santana Sass in 1:58.3 while his other trainee wins were with Jetster in 1:58.4, Dreamfair Van Dam in 2:00.1 and Messier Seelster in 2:03.3.
Driver Adam Merner made a trio of visits to the winner's circle on the card starting off in race 3 with Runnindownadream with a 2:03.3 score from the Chris Davies stable of Cornwall. Goodmorning Ky supplied Merner's second win in 2:01.3 for trainer Frank Banks of Summerside, then Selkirk Echo capped off the triple in 2:01.1 for the horse's second straight win from the Jackie Matheson stable.
Pictonian Storm captured the Boxing Day Pace for driver Austin Sorrie, trainer Wade Sorrie and owner Tammy Collings, Hazel Brook, PE. The time of the mile was1:59.2. Sorrie, who was home from Ontario for the Christmas break, was named a finalist in the future star category at the upcoming O'Brien Awards next month in Mississauga, Ontario.
Wager for Boxing Day was $53,840.
