Charlottetown, PE – Bazillion, a new addition to the Trevor Hicken stable, made his second start on Island soil a winning one taking the Saturday afternoon feature in a dazzling performance at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Driver Brian MacPhee, who celebrated his 1,800th career victory earlier on the card with Woodmere No Fool, put the newcomer on the point and rolled through fractions of 28.4, 59.3 and 1:29.3 stopping the timer on the line at 1:58.4. The track was rated sloppy with a three second variant. Bazzillion, who came in from Yonkers Raceway in New York, is owned by Kent Livingston, Cornwall, PE. Motorino (Terry Gallant) and Nogreatmischief (Walter Cheverie) completed the triactor.
Sam, owned by Foxyhall Racing, Summerside, PE, pushed her winning streak to seven in a row claiming the open mares handicap in line to trainer-driver Jason Hughes. The mare remains perfect since relocating from Ontario. Hughes enjoyed a productive day in the bike with a driving-training triple on the card. His other victories included Lucksgottachange and St Lads Foxy. Both horses are owned by his brother Robi Hughes, Stratford, PE.
Majian Chester (James Ripley) and I Aint No Lady (MacPherson) won their respective trot assignments on the program.
MacPhee, Walter Cheverie and Corey MacPherson earned driving doubles.
The total handle was $34,807.
