Summerside, PE – DBS Rosco won the Victoria Day pace in an exciting stretch battle during opening day harness racing action Monday at Red Shores Summerside. The time of the mile was 1:58.2
Kenny Arsenault engineered the winning drive for trainer Wendell Shaw and his co-owners Robbie Shaw and Derek Folland. Arsenault put the pacer on the point and rolled through fractions of 28.1, 57:4 and 1:28. The son of Santanna Blue Chip held off a fast closing Carnivore (Walter Cheverie) down the lane to notch his third win of the year. Motorino was third.
It was Arsenault's second winner of the day after guiding Montana Ben to top honours for owner-trainer Mike Ramsay, Summerside, PE.
Shady Kowalski, under the command of Terry Gallant, opened up the 2016 campaign at Summerside. The five-year old mare is owned by Eric Johnston, Summerside, PE.
Gilles Barrieau and Marc Campbell also recorded driving doubles up to press deadline.
