CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – After hooking up in last week's Governor's Plate consolation race, Lisburn and Soccer Hanover will have another show down Saturday evening in the feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The 11-dash Saturday card has a 6 P.M. start time with a tight knit field of five contesting the race 10 $2,900 Preferred 2 pace. Soccer Hanover reigned victorious in the Governor's Plate consolation from post 8 and will have to circle the field again as he has drawn the outside post 5 with Walter Cheverie in the bike for co-owner and trainer Leith Waite of Kensington along with co-owners Les and Spencer Waite.
Lisburn was third in that mile and the former Gold Cup and Saucer finalist will look for redemption Saturday from post 3 for trainer-driver Kenny Arsenault. Creepin and driver David Dowling has rail control as he looks for win number one of the new season.
Race analyst Les MacIsaac places Lisburn on top of his tickets.
"Lisburn finished third in the Plate consolation despite being uncovered for the back half of the mile," MacIsaac said. "Since a much smoother journey is in the cards from this improved post there could be nothing to stand in his way."
Also in the featured field are Silverhill Buddy (To be driven by Gordie Hennessey) and JK Express (Mike McGuigan).
The back-up pace lines up in race 8 for a $2,500 pot with Tempo Seelster the morning line favourite with rail control for co-owner and trainer Gary Poulton and co-owner Dewar Burhoe of Charlottetown. Vincent Poulton will pick up the catch drive this week as the horse looks for win number 34 of his career. Rockin Indy drops out of the Governor's Plate consolation and draws post 4 in the field for trainer Troy Murray. McGuigan will drive the seven-year-old son of Rockin Image in place of regular driver Adam Merner, who is racing in stakes action in Nova Scotia on Saturday night.
