SUMMERSIDE, PE – On top at every call, Hes Marvalous cruised to victory in the Friday evening featured event on the harness racing opening card of the season at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
Myles Heffernan Sr., was in the bike for trainer Myles Heffernan Jr., and owner Jackie Heffernan of Summerville for the win in the $2,500 Friday evening feature. The seven-year-old son of Delmarvalous left sharply from post 4 to seize the front end and went through splits of 29.3, 59.4, 1:28.3 and 1:57.3 to win by two-lengths. Creepin (Driven by David Dowling) rallied for second while Adventure Luck (Corey MacPherson) was third.
It was one of two wins on the card for trainer Heffernan Jr., as Lorne Valley Barb was a 1:58.4 victor with Corey MacPherson at the lines in race 8, for win number 999 of the Cornwall driver's career.
Drivers Marc Campbell and Dowling started off the season in a tie for leading driver as both reinsmen won three races.
Campbell won the season opener with Scoot Out Of Here in 1:58.2 for trainer Vaughan Doyle of Charlottetown then later won with the O'Leary pair of Vegas Rich for Jansen Sweet in 2:00.4 and Shiftyn Georgie in 1:59.2 for trainer Jaycob Sweet.
Dowling wins came aboard Noudidnt Blue Chip in 1:59 for trainer Jonah Moase of Warren Grove, Windemere Albert in 2:01.3 for Earl Watts of Hampshire and Ramset in 2:01 for trainer Kyle Williams of Tyne Valley.
