TROIS-RIVIERES, Quebec, August 29, 2016 – The two winningest horses at the Hippodrome 3R this season, Jimbelina and St Kitts, will face each other for the first time in their history Tuesday evening. This is the last Tuesday evening live race program at 3R this season.
Both horses are actually three-year-old pacing fillies and they will battle it out in the fourth race against seven rivals, some of whom are colts and horses.
Jimbelina is the morning line favorite and starts from post two for driver Stephane Brosseau. The daughter of Big Jim is trained by Jean Tourigny and owned by Roland Trudel of Becancour, QC.
Winless at age two, Jimbelina is making up for lost time this season as she sports five wins, two seconds and one third place finish in her eight starts, all at 3R this year.
She has a race record of 1:57 taken last month when she was on a five-race winning streak. During the month of August, she has been second and third in her last three starts.
St Kitts starts alongside Jimbelina from post three for driver Mario Charron. This daughter of Somebeachsomewhere is trained by Maxime Velaye, 3R's leading trainer for the second straight season, and is owned by the Determination Stable of Montreal, QC.
Unraced at age two, St Kitts has been on a tear as of late, winning five of her last six starts and her lone loss was by only a neck. In her last start she took her lifetime mark with a 1:58.2 triumph and races nearly exclusively on the front end.
It may not be a cakewalk for either filly as they face some stiff competition in the field.
Heather's Shadow, a four-year-old mare, starts from post six for driver Sylvain Fontaine and she romped in her last start by 12 ½ lengths in 1:57.1 in defeating Jimbelina and EY Cowboy (post four) was second in 1:57.3 in last start.
Tuesday's eighth race feature pace marks the return of track record holder and Quebec-Bred Series multiple champion, Atomic Million AM.
He starts from post six and rarely ever loses at the Hippodrome 3R. His last two starts at 3R were a 1:56.3 triumph on July 24 and back on June 26 he captured the $30,000 final of the Quebec-Bred Series with an impressive 1:53.3 triumph.
Atomic Million AM takes on three return winners in Rainbow Palace (post one), Sea Donkey (post three) and Bali (post seven).
