The 3/10 favored Aubrion du Gers (8g Memphis du Rib-J’Arrive du Gers) was a game winner of today’s 200,000€ purse EME Grand Prix du Sud-Quest raced over 2550 meters autostart at Bordeaux Le Bouscat.
This was a UET Masters Series 2019 event. Owner/trainer Jean Michel Bazire teamed the winner to this 40th career victory now for 2,137,797€ earned.
He now shows 11 wins in 12 starts this year and is arguably the best racing international trotter. It would be an experience to see him race against Bold Eagle, Readly Express and Propulsion.
This day 15/1 odds Carat Williams (6m Prodigious-Miss Williams) was a game second for David Thomain and trainer Sebastien Guarato. Third in a photo was 83/1 Aribo Mix (8g Reve des Vallees-Hardness) for trainer/driver Dominique Cordeau.
Second wagering choice at 3.4/1 was Ranch Kelly (10f Tsar d’Inverne-Gabriella Kemp) with Hannu Torvinen up for trainer Jean Baudron. This quick mare left from post one and was shuffled almost last before making a huge rally backstretch on the final lap. She reached the leaders before weakening late in the lane.
The 98/1 Volcan de Vandel was fifth for Benjamin Goetz and 16/1 Tony Gio was eighth. Race time was 1.12.7kr over a rain slowed surface that was nonetheless a race and track record for the distance.
One will need to look far to find a better 2018 past performance sheet than that of Aubrion du Gers. He has seven groupe wins in FR plus victories in the Grand Prix de Wallonie and Kymi Grand Prix. He is a fine performer and so is trainer Bazire.
