The 5.9/1 odds Fashion Queen (4f Ready Cash-Usenza) took this evenings Gr. III Prix Pierre Van Troyen (purse 74,000€, 2850 meters, seven starters) at Paris-Vincennes. Eric Raffin teamed the Philippe Allaire trainee owned by J-M Tessier to the 1.14.4kr timed victory, her sixth in a 20 race career that so far has produced life earnings of 215,460€.
The 8/10 favorite Freyja du Pont (4f Quinoa du Gers-Parade du Pont) was second for trainer/drive Jean Michel Bazire that is owned by Albert Rayon. Third was 4.6/1 Electra Jet (5f Ready Cash-Olivia Jet) that trainer Pierre Vercruysse teamed for Ecurie des As and this one was bred by Jean Etienne Dubois (more to follow).
The day’s Q+ race was the Prix du Pays de Gex Aglo (purse 49,000€, 2850 meters, 16 starters) with that victory to 1.12.9kr timed and even-money favorite Darling Barry (6f Prince Gede-Osaka Berry) with owner/trainer Jean Michel Bazire aboard. This was her 10th career win in 33 starts now for 229,340€ earned.
The 15/1 Desiree de Landes and 8.8/1 Dascalia trailed the winner. There were 395 winning Q+ exact order tickets that each paid 2,037.80€. Total handle on the race exceeded 7,420,000€ with 3,604,042€ in the Q+ pool.
The two year colts were next up in the Prix Louis Cauchuis (Gr. III, purse 54,000€, 2200 meters, nine starters) and the 1.15.5kr clocked winner was the 5/10 favorite Helgafell (2m Charly du Noyer-Baaria) reined by Eric Raffin for Ecurie Normandy Spirit and trainer Philippe Allaire. He scored for the third time in four starts to raise his life earnings to 65,700€. 3.7/1 Heart of Gold (2m Bird Parker) took second for owner/trainer Allaire.
The Gr. III Prix Marcel Dejean followed, an event for two year old fillies, and raced over 2200 meters by 12 starters for the 54,000€ purse. The 1.15.9kr timed winner was 25/1 Havana d’Aurcy (2f Royal Dream-Avila with Romain Congard aboard for trainer Jean Michel Bazire and breeder/owner Cyril Lelorge. It was her second victory in four starts now for 41,700€ earned. 5.4/1 Havanaise (2f Ricimer) was second for trainer/driver F.P. Bossuet.
On the undercard was the Prix Gisela (purse 38,000€, 2850 meters, 15 starters) and 9/1 Giant Celebrity (3f Love You-Ida Bourbon) scored for Jean Philippe Dubois, trainer Philippe Moulin and Ecurie Victoria Dreams. She was timed in 1.14.6kr. The dam Ida Bourbon is a foal of 1996 and dam of Royal Dream, the Prix d’Amerique winner of 1,591,310€, he a foal of 2005.
At Enghien on Wednesday was the Prix de la Porte Chaumont (purse 29,000€, 2150 meters autostart, 16 starters) and it saw a maiden victory for 21/1 Gourgandine (3f Bold Eagle-Udine) clocked in 1.14.9kr. She is owned by breeder Jean Pierre Dubois and is newly trained by Kevin Vanderschelden to her first win in nine outings now for 25,180€ earned. Her dam is a daughter of Coktail Jet-Idylle that won 13 times for 281,110€ earned.
The Dubois name, associated several times above in recent races in France, also appeared this week in Australia at Melton Tabcorp Park, with Jean Etienne Dubois driving his My Tribeca (5f Goetmals Wood-Image-Coktail Jet) to victory at a mile rate of 1.59.2.
Dubois now lives in New South Wales and formerly won the Prix d’Amerique and Elitloppet. He currently most notable racehorse, Bold Eagle, a horse he bred and developed, goes tonight in the Breeders Crown at Mohawk Woodbine Park near Toronto. Anton Golino trains the Italian bred My Tribeca for Jean Etienne Dubois.
