Vivid Wise As (5m Yankee Glide-Temple Blue Chip), off at 22/1, rallied late to win this evening’s Gr. II International UET Masters Series Grand Prix du Department des Alpes-Maritimes at Cagnes sur Mer (purse 150,000€, 1609 meters autostart, nine starters after the scratch of Tessy d’Ete), the fourth leg of the Challenge Vitesse series of mile sprints in France.
Alessandro Gocciadoro trains and teamed the winner that was clocked in 1.08.6kr (mile race 1:50.39).
The victory moved Vivid Wise As’ career earnings to 512,336€.
The 11/1 Bahia Quesnot (8f Scipion du Goutier-Queen Ines) held second for trainer/driver Junior Guelpa after taking the lead mid-stretch. Then 69/1 Desir Castelets (6m Quaker Jet-Ophelia Jet) took third with David Bekaert aboard for trainer Luc Roelens, 1.8/1 Drole de Jet (6m Coktail Jet-Likely Jet) set the pace after gaining the front in the first turn for trainer/driver Pierre Vercruysse and ended fourth, nosing out fifth finishing 4.7/1 Valokaja Hindo (8m Great Challenger-Hindo Enghave) handled by Christophe Martens for trainer J-M Bazire.
Romanesque was sixth. The even-money favorite Bel Avis was a dq for interference, reined by trainer Bazire.
