July 25, 2017 – Harness racing driver Orjan Kihlstrom piloted Propulsion (6m Muscle Hill-Danae-Andover Hall) to a quick decisive victory in tonight’s Hugo Abergs Memorial (1SEK million to the winner, 1609 meters autostart, 10 starters) clocked in 1.08.1kr (mile rate 1:49.57).
Propulsion, trained by Daniel Reden for Stall Zet, left from post one and found a position second over as Twister Bi (5m Varenne-Lorraine Bi-Lemon Dra) set a fast pace for Christoffer Eriksson after causing a recall and being fired up. He traveled the initial 500 meters in 1.06.7kr. This Jerry Riordan trainee held gamely for third as stablemate Ringostarr Treb (7m Classic Photo-Farsalo Egral-Supergill) emerged from the peg pocket to close rapidly for second driven by Wim Paal.
Propulsion successfully defended his Abergs victory a year ago and set a new mile autostart record in Sweden as he was the favorite off at 1.8/1. Shadow Gar and Carabinieri finished fourth and fifth.
