January 6, 2019 – The last weekend (Sunday) featured trot in Italy was at Bologna (harness racing half mile track) in the GP Della Vittoria (purse 40,040€, 2460 meters turning start).
Victory went to the 1.14.9kr timed Talisker Horse (7f Pine Chip-Iri Horse-Varenne) with Roberto Vecchione up.
The winner rallied late in the late to narrowly score over Stella di Azzurra (8f Supergill-Genny di Azzurra) with Fed. Esposito at the lines.
Virginia Grif (5f Varenne-Francy Capar) was third and the distance handicapped Urlo dei Venti (6m Mago d’Amore) landed fourth, timed in 1.14.5kr.
This coming Saturday at Jagersro is the V75 Gold Arvid Stjernswards Minne (200,000SEK to the winner, 1640 meters autostart) that will be the first start in Sweden by the well-regarded Italian trotteur Timone EK, now trained by Jerry Riordan and will be handled by Thomas Uhrberg.
The good field, shown below, will likely have Dante Boko and Takethem among the wagering favorites.
