Fractions were quickly set by the front stepping winner (1.10.7kr at 1500 meters to go; 1.11kr at the 1000 and 1.12.3kr with 500 remaining).
The Grand Prix du Portugal (purse €48,000, 2850 meters, 16 starters) went to 1.15.2kr timed and 49.6/1 odds longshot Beatbox (5g Opus Viervil-Quolombe Winner) with breeder/trainer/driver Jarme Niskanen up for Ecurie Piper. 4.2/1 Be Bop Mara (5g Mambo King-Quida de Faverol) was second for Gabriel Gelormini and trainer/owner Vincent Renault. 17.2/1 Bleuet des Podis (5m Jag de Bellouet-Fleur Champetra) was third ahead of 3./1 Bel Auteur (5m Password-Possession) and Eric Raffin.
