Major Hippie added to the puzzle for this Sunday's Alabar Southern Supremacy Stakes when he bravely won in the last race today.
He was posted three wide early before getting to the front. He was then pressurised a long way from home by Glenburn Joy before having to fight off a late challenge by Dachy to win by a head.
Major Hippie has a week to recover before taking on the likes of Eamon Maguire, Young Conqueror and Whittaker in Sunday's Group Three feature.
He is trained by Mark Purdon and Natalie Rasmussen who trained the winner of the two year old race today in Ashley Locaz. He was brave in beating the Paul Court trained Hail Christian by half a length in 2-03.3 for the 1700 metre mobile. The time equals the track and Southland record. Kotare Mach recorded the same time on 2009.

It's likely that both Ashley Locaz and Hail Christian will return to the track this Sunday for the $38,000 Group Three Diamond Creek Farm Two Year Old Classic.
