The annual Kaikoura Trotting Club meeting will now be a two-day fixture. They will race on both a Sunday and Monday at the end of October this year.
The Sunday meeting on the 30th October will be a six race programme and will field races of lower class horses, while the traditional Monday meeting will be a ten race programme held the next day on October 31st and feature the Kaikoura Cup, trotters cup and the $50,000 NZ Yearling Sales pace.
Last year Arden Rooney won the Kaikoura Cup before going on to win the New Zealand cup eight days later.
Arden Rooneys Australian owner Merv Butterworth (Butterworth Racing Syndicate) will possibly have two horses participating in this years Kaikoura Cup. Both Didjamakim Bolt and Itz Bettor To Win are earmarked for the important lead-up race before competing in the New Zealand Cup in November.
