USTA Strategic Wagering

The U.S. Trotting Association, in cooperation with its member tracks, has announced the "USTA Strategic Wagering" program, designed to provide value to harness racing horseplayers by guaranteeing the size of designated betting pools.

Balmoral Park will once again offer big betting opportunities for players with four guaranteed pools this weekend. A one day Pick 5 carryover of $8,967 will kick off the action on Saturday night.

The popular 50 cent Pick 5 wager is offered on races 2 thru 6.

The USTA and Balmoral Park have created a $35,000 instant guaranteed pool on the Saturday Pick 5. Post time for the second race is 8:30 Eastern, 7:30 Central and 5:30 Pacific.

Through May 8, the average wagered on 53 guaranteed Pick 5 pools at Balmoral Park is $20,893 a night. The average 50 cent payout is $3,693.43.

Balmoral will also offer a $20,000 Guaranteed Pick 4 pool on Saturday. The Pick 4 has a one dollar minimum. Balmoral offers a Guaranteed Pick 4 wager every night with free program pages and a 15% takeout.

Through May 8, the average one dollar payout is $2,773.40. The average Pick Four pool in 2012 is $32,410.

The Balmoral 50 cent Pick Five now has a guarantee of $15,000 every Sunday. The Sunday Pick Four offers a low takeout of 15 per cent and a $30,000 guaranteed pool. Last Sunday the pool was $44.038.

The Wednesday and Saturday Pick Four guarantees are $20,000 with the same 15% takeout.

Balmoral Park currently has one of the lowest percentage of winning favorites in thoroughbred or harness racing at 34 per cent.
