It turned into the battle of the 'Do Its' in the E B Cochran Trotters Cup and it was the less fancied I Didnt Do It who held off his Kiwi - counterpart in I Can Doosit. Jodi Quinlan made it a night to remember after notching up the HBV Ladyship Cup on Pembrook Caesar earlier, only to make it a harness racing double with the highly regarded I Didn't Do It.
The race was run to suit with some cheap early sectionals giving the winner an easy run in front.
Although he got on the steel in the middle stages, Quinlan was able to hold him together and record some brilliant late sectionals on the star squaregaiter.
I Can Doosit sat parked for the last lap and slowly bridged the gap but was still two metres away when they hit the line.
Kasyanov had a nice run in behind the eventual winner and battled strongly to hold third from Mister Zion who ran on at the end.
Jodi Quinlan spoke to Rob Auber trackside following the race about the now eight-year-old son of.
"He hasn't done that for a long time (pulled) so I'll put up with him," Quinlan said.
"He was a different horse tonight, you can generally tell in the warm-up and Merv (Williamson) told me he was right to go.
"I was a bit disappointed with his last run but he has gone up again a notch tonight. I thought I was beaten halfway up the straight but to his credit he was the strongest on the line."
I Didnt Do It ran a mile-rate of 1:59.8 with the last half coming in quick 57.0.
He has now put together 26 wins in his 66 start career and looks one of the major Australian threats for the Pryde's EasiFeed Great Southern Star in March.
