Alexandra Park continues to set the standard for upmarket facilities in New Zealand harness racing with yet another brand new facility opened on the track last Friday (September 2). Michael Stiassney the Chairman of the NZRB officially opened 'The Alex' - a brand new Sports Bar and TAB.
The Alex Bar and Eatery has also been extended, refurbished and incorporated into a much bigger, more user friendly TAB and outdoor area.
Rod Croon, the president of the Auckland Trotting Club was in attendance at the opening and thanked the New Zealand Racing Board for its contribution and drive to make the refurbishment happen.
'The Alex' is a new brand that the ATC is using to promote the Sports Bar and Café area. The idea behind the brand is to create a new modern area at Alexandra Park that plays on aspects of the history of harness racing in this country.
The new TAB is argubly the best in New Zealand with technological innovation, space and light giving the venue a modern, fashionable vibe.
Harness racing New Zealand's marketing and promotions manager, Andrew Morris had the following to say about the new facility:
"It's fantastic! I love the light that's in there now. It has a lot more airy great feel to it and it is really classy looking."
Approximately 100 guests attended the opening.
