Two country clubs will host KS Black & Co Carnival Of Cup harness racing meetings this Thursday (April 25), Anzac Day, with big crowds expected at both Coolamon and Forbes. The two towns are only 235 kilometres apart but there has been no competition for horses with Coolamon running an all trotters day while Forbes will host seven pacing events.

2013 is the third occasion that the Coolamon club has hosted a meeting for the square-gaiters as part of the Carnival Of Cups, with the card highlighted by the Gr. 3 La Coocaracha, a $25,000 event for mares.

The inaugural running was won by Arizona Blue while Dealornodeal will return this year to try and defend her crown after winning narrowly 12 months ago.

Blake Fitzpatrick will be represented in the main race by former kiwi Im Ready Set with David White set to drive the daughter of Monarchy. Fitzpatrick is expecting a big run from the mare at her first run in Australia and will take another three horses to compete at the meeting.

The first of six races will be run at 1:37pm with South Australian broadcaster Ray Fewings calling the programme.

The Forbes club traditionally hosts a meeting on Anzac Day and the Forbes Services Memorial Club Final is the feature event with $7,000 prizemoney on offer. Horses qualified for the race after competing in heats run at Forbes on April 1 and the regally bred Oh So Sweet is looking for her fourth straight victory.

Oh So Sweet is a daughter of Grinfromeartoear and Latoya Franco making her a half sister to the Gr. 1 Queensland Oaks winner White Thunder. Since winning at Forbes she has been victorious at Parkes and Bathurst and will be driven on Thursday afternoon by John O'Shea.

With the first of seven races at Forbes set to begin at 1pm, an exciting day is assured for all.

Just by being on course at Coolamon and Forbes on Thursday, patrons will get the chance to go into the draw to win a brand new Toyota Yaris to be drawn at the Harness Racing New South Wales Awards Night in October.
