Maximum Terror closed with a rush at 31-1 for harness racing driver Ben Stafford Jr. while Montrell Teague piloted Race Me Villa to victory in Thursday, Feb.18 feature races at Dover Downs.
Ben Stafford Jr. came from out of the pack on the outside to overtake the leaders at the wire for a 1:53.3 triumph for the longest price payoff of the day $64.20 for a $2 win ticket. T's Electric (Tony Morgan) found room along the passing lane and got up for second in front of Laughing Matters (Corey Callahan). It was the third win of 2016 for the Western Terror-Hit Cocoa gelding, who won for the 12th time in his career while banking $105,281 for owner-trainer Ben Stafford.
In the other division, an altered son of Village Jolt-Out Of The Shadows, Race Me Villa, a game second last start finishing second by a nose, was at the top of his game in this one, rolling home in 1:52.1 for trainer Kevin Switzer and owners Kathleen Mofield and John Dickens. This was his 20th career victory upping his lifetime earnings to $98,044. Rockin Rambaran (Allan Davis) closed to finish second for the second straight time. Summer Camp (Callahan) was third.
Corey Callahan and Tony Morgan won three races while Ross Wolfenden had a double.
Dover Downs is dark on Friday and Saturday. Sunday post time is 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday racing begins at 4:30 p.m.
