Lexington, KY – A Rocknroll Dance and driver Tim Tetrick were able to hold off strong late charged by both Bolt the Duer and Our Lucky Chip to score a neck victory in the $10,000 Allerage Farms Open Pace elimination Saturday at the Red Mile in 1:48.4.
It was Bolt The Duer and driver mark Macdonald who were first on the lead with Golden Receiver (Corey Callahan) getting the two-hole trip to the opening quarter mile in :27.1. But no sooner had the field started down the backstretch that Tetrick had A Rocknroll Dance on the move first-over and they were able to clear to the lead at the half mile in :53.4.
Heading into the final turn there would be no rest for the weary as Escape The News (Ron Pierce) came first-over with Foreclosure N (Andy Miller) on their backs to the three-quarters in 1:22.1. Then as the field came down the stretch, A Rocknroll Dance held a minor lead as clearance opened up and Bolt The Duer started to charge after A Rocknroll Dance along with Our Lucky Chip (Trace Tetrick) but it was too little too late as A Rocknroll Dance held his ground to the finish.
It was the sixth win this year for A Rocknroll Dance. The son of Rocknroll Hanover has yet to finish worse than second in his last six starts for trainer Jim Mulinix and the A Rocknroll Dance Stable of Wauseon, Ohio. They will now be one of the favorites in next week $180,000 final of the Allerage Farms Open Pace.
“All of these horses in this race are very talented,” Tetrick said, “they can all sprint fast and it can be anyone’s race. My horse really raced well. He fought game. They made a little bridle change and he can see a little more and when he seen them coming he was racing everyone he could see.”
“He is really a special horse,” said co-owner Jerry Silva. “I’m glad to be part of the group that owns him. I’m happy he came back the way he did from last year when he had some problems. And Tim just drives him the right way.”
