The 2-year old French colt Akim du Cap Vert, driven by Franck Anne, was a very convincing winner of the Prix Emmanuel Margouty, raced over 1-5/16 mile at Paris-Vincennes on Friday afternoon -- in a new European record of 1:57.4 (mile rate).

This was the third win in a row for Akim du Cap Vert, who now has stamped himself as the leader of his crop, so far, among colts.

Akim du Cap Vert is a very big chestnut colt, who actually is bred to be an under-saddle trotter, as were his sire, First de Retz, and his grandsire, Podosis, who were both top trotters under saddle.

Akim du Cap Vert, who earned $80,000 for Friday's win, has now earned $200,000.

His trainer and driver, Franck Anne, has another great horse in his stable, the 3-year-old filly Vanika du Ruel, who is the leading trotter of her crop, regardless of sex.
