Unheralded outsider Denises Legacy joined an elite band of harness racing youngsters when she scored a shock win in tonight's (Saturday the 23rd February)$50,000 Allied Express Pink Bonnet at Tabcorp Park Menangle.

Menangle trainer Dennis Wilson’s Modern Art filly only snuck into the Pink Bonnet field when she finished third in Tuesday’s second heat of the race.

Wilson then stepped aside and gave local reinsman David Morris the reins and a patient drive by the 21-year-old saw him score his biggest success, coming from last with a barnstorming finish to grab Eye Catching right on the line for a surprise victory at odds of almost 90-1.

Second favourite Artista Lombo finished third while odds-on favourite Starzzzinthenight fell victim to a slashing first quarter of 26.9 seconds and an early speed battle with Distant Memory and dropped out to finish near last.

David Morris later remarked he had watched the early races and decided patience was the order of the day . . . and it paid dividends.
