Pictonians Souwest, with driver Mike Stevenson in the bike, was the wire to wire winner in Atlantic Sires Stakes harness racing action at Northside Downs on Saturday afternoon.
The 3 year-old pacing colt won the first of two "A" division events in a time of 1:59 for owner Daniel Ross of Belfast, PEI. Coming home second was Putnams Power and driver Danny Romo and third place went to Putnams Art and Bernard McCallum.
The second $10,280 “A” division event went to Windemere Express and driver Shane Bernard in a time of 1:59 .4 for owner Windemere Farms of North Wiltshire, PEI. Second place went to Howdidchado and Terry Gallant and finishing third was Bonnys Mac and driver Clare MacDonald.
The lone “B” division event on the afternoon race card went to Maritimer with Clare MacDonald holding the lines.
Atlantic Sires Stakes racing action heats up again this week as a full slate of events is scheduled to take place during Lobster Carnival Week at Red Shores at Summerside, PEI.
