The sweltering heat continued but many of the Standardbreds contesting Hawthorne’s 11-race card seemed to revel in it on Wednesday (June 8).

No less than five combatants lowered their best ever times.

Search Mission, a 4-Year-Old Trotter lowered his mark to 1.55.4 in the third.

7-Year-Old Bon Eire’s Squire set a new mark of 1.54.2 in the fourth race’s one mile pace.

In the fifth, Odds On Sarah, a 3-Year-Old pacer, scored her second win in as many starts and lowered her standard to 1.55.2.

Snuff Box, in the eighth, winning for the second time in his career, paced the mile in 1.55.4.

A Little Sumthinhot, in the 11th, finished with a rush and set a new standard for himself, lowering his best time by a second and three fifths to 1.55.2.

In the first leg of the Hunt M Down Series, Search Mission proved victorious. GT’s Royal Flush took the next leg of the Series, covering the mile in 1.57.3

Remember, we’ll be featuring two Erwin F. Dygert Stake Eliminations on Friday.

Plus, ESPN 1000’s Carmen and Silvy will compete in a match race between the fifth and sixth races and the girls from Coyote Ugly will be partying at Hawthorne for much of the night.
