HARRINGTON, Del. – Three $20,000 divisions of the opening round of Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund for harness racing pacing fillies were contested at Harrington Raceway Tuesday.
Thomson Sisters Racing Stable's Free Flight Fran ($6, Ross Wolfenden) prevailed in the first division with a front-end 1:54.3 triumph. The daughter of Veeza set all the fractions while 3-to-5 favorite Spanish Dream was never able to sustain a bid en route to an open length route over A Lady Sizzling and She's No Spinster. Trained by trainer Josh Green, it was the 5th straight win for "Fran."
Joel and Dianne Halpern's Westwind Roddylee ($10.60, Tim Tetrick) prevailed in the second division in 1:56.1 over Lillisbagsrpacked and Lunar Phase. Trained by Jason Skinner, it was the sixth career win for the daughter of Roddy's Bags Again.
The third DSBF division went to Jo Ann Looney King's Logan's Girl ($2.40, Victor Kirby), who held off Cashmere's Delight in a 1:54.4 triumph for trainer Jim King Jr. Spinpressive was third. A daughter of Roddy's Bags Again, Logan's Girl notched her 11th career win.
In the $17,500 Mares Open, the overnight feature, Kdk Standardbreds' Apple Bottom Jeans ($5.40, Teague) gave her driver a triple on the program with a 1:52.1 triumph over Newborn Sassy and Nerida Franco. Trained by Kevin Switzer, it was the sixth win of the year for the victor.
Driver Allan Davis had four wins on the program, while owner/trainer Vince Bradley and owner Louis Catana each had three.
