That’s what I heard walking through the grandstand early Sunday (July 31) evening.

The description was used by one of the Hawthorne patrons to depict the night that driver Andy Miller was having.

At that point, Andy had won the first four races, two of them while teamed up with trainer Ervin Miller, Andy’s older brother.

Andy went on the win the fifth race. That was the most consecutive wins to start a card around here that any I asked could remember.

He took the first with Art’s Day for brother Erv. Art’s Day paid $3.40. They won the second with Buddha Baby who paid $4.80. The Miller-Miller-Miller-Miller Daily Double returned $12.80.

Andy went on to take the third with Filly Finale for trainer John Saner. Filly Finale paid $4.40. The Pick 3, for the first three races, paid $21.20.

He was back in the winner’s circle for the fourth with Lucky’s Z Tam for trainer David McCaffrey. “Z” paid $4.20.

Andy finished his incredible streak in the fifth with Life’s Omen for Ervin Miller. Life’s Omen paid $6.80.

That wasn’t the end of the night for Miller, however. In the tenth race, he again drove for victory, getting the win for trainer Robert Einhaus. Star Stepper paid $5.40.

Miller-driven horses also finished second in two races, in the seventh with Grant’s Charger and in the 11th with Western Dealer. Plus, in the last race he finished third with Ramalamadingdong.

Again proving that a little could go a long way, the 8th race Superfecta paid $18,107.43 for a tiny 10-cent wager.

This Friday will be the first Night Of Champions at Hawthorne. We’ll feature the Finals of eight different Series, each with a purse estimated at $100,000.

Plus, entertainment options will abound. Check the center insert of your programs for a list of some of what’s happening.

Please note, the first post of this special 14-race card is at 7:00 pm, forty minutes earlier than normal. Bring the kids for the entertainment, the pony rides, and the coloring contest. Be here early so you don’t miss any of the fun and games.
