The 2014-15 season will see an increase in stakes of $700,000 or 10% on the previous season.

As announced two weeks ago, the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club (The Met) has
increased their minimum stakes level from $5,000 to $7,000 for the 2014-15 season, a 40%
increase from 2013-14.

And in the new season all runners will be guaranteed a return no matter where they finish with 2% of the total race stake paid to connections of all non-stakes bearing runners.

Also on the increase this season on feature race dates are stakes for C0 horses from $8,000 to $9,000 and C1 to C2 horses from $10,000 to $11,000.

The new season will see the running of three individual Alabar Super Series catering for lower graded horses with nine finals programmed to run for $23,500.

There will be eight Premier Meetings carded throughout the season with the minimum stake at these meetings up to $20,000.

Group 1 Races including the Christchurch Casino New Zealand Trotting Cup up to $700,000, Hellers Dominion to $250,000, Muscara Standardbreds New Zealand Derby to $200,000 and Canterbury Breeders’ New Zealand Oaks to $150,000 have had stakes increases.
