Adonis Bay takes win in Buffalo Raceway Open Pace

HAMBURG, N.Y. --- After a pair of disappointing setbacks, Adonis Bay returned to his winning ways by capturing the harness racing  $13,000 Open Pace at Buffalo Raceway on Saturday night (July 13).
 
Reverting back to his successful style of racing, that being on the front end, Adonis Bay posted fractions of :28.1, :57.2 and 1:26.2 in covering the mile in 1:55. He beat Black Is Back (David McNeight III) by 3/4 lengths while Manceiver (Kevin Cummings) took third.
 
The victory with Adonis Bay gave driver Ray Fisher Jr. a sweep of the weekend features as he notched the win aboard Lougazi in the Open Trot on Friday night.
 
Owned by Michael Gentner and trained by Jerry Nugent Jr., it was the fourth win in 22 appearances for Adonis Bay (If I Can Dream-Kiss Me I'm Lucky). The triumph moved the 7-year-old gelding's 2019 bankroll to $48,390 and $269,295 lifetime.
 
Rose Run Ranger (Drew Monti) needed every inch of the Buffalo Raceway home stretch and was able to squeeze out a nose victory over In Runaway Bay N in the $11,000 Class AA pace.
 
Going three wide around the final turn, Rose Run Ranger was persistent in his drive to the lead and finally nudged ahead of In Runaway Bay N at the wire. Lots Of Lovin (Denny Bucceri) took the third place check. Rose Run Ranger covered the mile in a seasonal best of 1:54.4.
 
Co-owned by the Burke Racing Stable LLC and Weaver Bruscemi LLC, it was the seventh win in 21 starts for Rose Run Ranger (Major In Art-A And G's Finest). The 6-year-old gelding has produced $55,330 in earnings this season and $130,300 lifetime.

Harry Hoo N (Shawn McDonough) slipped through in the passing lane and snagged a nose decision over Grantor Hanover in the $10,000 Class A pace in seasonal best of 1:54.1. It was the second straight triumph for Harry Hoo N ($5.00).
 
McNeight III and Fisher Jr. had a driving triples on the card while Monti, and Billy Davis Jr had doubles. David McNeight Sr., James Clouser Jr. and Jeff Amann all had two training wins.
 
The final week of the 2019 season at Buffalo Raceway gets underway on Wednesday night as a 13-race card will be presented. The New York Sire Stakes will take place for the final time this year as the 2-year-old colt and gelding trotters will headline the card. There will also be action in the Excelsior A and B series.
