Eleven year old Catch A Flight/Incoming gelding Incoming Flight chalked up his 8th harness racing victory in 108 outings, when successful in the Hyland Sportswear Pace for C1 class over 1609 metres at Cranbourne on Wednesday October 10.

Raced, trained and driven by Romsey’s Paul Green, Incoming Flight after dropping back several grades, led throughout from gate two, accounting for Mossdale Allan (one/one – three wide home turn) in a rate of 2-01.5, with Sir Gorilla (three back the markers) third.

Coimadai duo Adam Kelly (trainer) and Gavin Lang (driver) snared the TAB Daily Double, with 4-Y-0 Our Sir Vancelot/Mindpower gelding Smooth Freddy taking the first leg – the Botanic Ridge Pace for C2 & C3 class over 2080 metres and 5-Y-0 Jennas Beach Boy/Supreme Affair gelding Five Oclock Affair the second – the Decron Horse Care Pace for C4 & C5 class over 2080 metres.

Smooth Freddy led virtually throughout from gate six in defeating Bronze Destiny which trailed after leading out from the pole, with Travtiano running home late off a three wide trail from last to finish third. The mile rate 2-00.4.

Five Oclock Affair first up since August led from gate three, before being crossed by the rank outsider Dark Cameo ($79.90) to enjoy the run of the race.

Fortunately the roughie was still there on straightening and driven with the patience of Jobe, Five Oclock Affair dashed home along the sprint lane to blouse D B Dazzler which faced the breeze before striding clear on the home turn, with Lombo Royal Flush (three wide last lap from mid-field) third. The mile rate 2-00.6.

Improving Christian Cullen/Waltons Babe gelding Crosby Cullen brought up two wins in a row when greeting the judge in the Hy Gain Feeds 3-Y-0 Pace over 2080 metres in a mile rate of 2-02.2..

Raced by June and Gordon Turner, co- trained at Drouin West by son-in-law Gary Quinlan daughter Debbie Quinlan, Crosby Cullen exploded away from outside the front row to lead and was never headed, scoring by 5.8 metres in advance of Glenferrie Lady on debut which was the Harnesslink “run of the race”, coming from last to storm home into second place, with Goodtime Billy (one/one) third.

Trafalgar trainer Chris Hunter combined with son Glenn to snare the Cranbourne Trainers Bonanza Trotters Handicap for T0 or better class over 2575 metres with $24.50 chance Slancio.

Beginning brilliantly from outside the front row to lead as the tapes released, Slancio was allowed to bowl at his leisure, giving his rivals the slip on the final bend to score easily by 7 metres in a rate of 2-09.3 over the Brian Kiesey trained pair of Master Kiesey from last and Candy Digger (three back the markers).

Raced by Rhonda Hunter, Slancio making his fifth appearance at the races was bred by veteran trotting enthusiast Dick Lee.
