Illinios native Tony Alanga has come a long way in the world of harness racing in the last few years with a string of headline horses.
Since tying up with Myron Bell of Brittany Farms, the Alanga barn has stamped its mark on age group racing in North America.
The first horse to really make his mark from the partnership between Alanga and Bell was the brilliant son of Somebeachsomewhere in Captaintreacherous who was a star from the time he hit the track as a two year old.
Capotaintreacherous won eight of ten at two on the way to earning $911,277 and earned pacer of the year honours.
He came back even better at three winning thirteen of sixteen for $2,065,533 while taking a mark of 1:47.1 and was again horse of the year at three.
Now retired and standing at Hanover Shoe Farms at a fee of $15,000, Captaintreacherous could rightly be said as the horse that really put Tony Alanga on the map.
Just to prove that they weren't a one horse partnership, Tony and Myron combined once again to produce last season's outstanding two year old Artspeak.
Artspeak, a son of Western Ideal produced a two year old record very similiar to Captaintreacherous in that he won eight of ten starts for $805,727 while taking a record of 1:50.2.
Artspeak has come out at three in dominant form and is two from two at this early stage of the season and has lowered his best time to 1:48.4.
Recently Tony Alanga spoke to In The Sulky and we post that video below.
