The New Zealand Herald's harness racing scribe Michael Guerin has cast his eye over the quality Alexandra Park meeting tomorrow night (Friday December 7). He has offered us his thoughts on the Quaddie and provided selections for each race.

Below that Harness racing's Trottech analysts has tried to find some value bets on a top night's racing.

Good luck if you're having a bet on the big meeting.

QUADDIE PREVIEW:

First leg, R9:

Smolda (3) will be all the rage, even though he has only had one standing start. Exceptional pacer and if he steps should win but hard to take as an anchor. Jivin Cullen (2) should lead and in a race without much pressure is hard to catch. Sushi Sushi (8) is using this as a Victoria Cup trial as is Sir Lincoln (11) but both will need luck to get close enough to outsprint the front runners. The best value looks to be Pembrook Benny (9) who loves his home track is was good at the workouts last Saturday.

Second leg, R10:

Even allowing for the depth of the field punters should be able to get away with two here: Master Lavros (5) and Stent (7). Master Lavros was outstanding at NZ Cup week and has worked well right-handed this week. If he can work to the front how will they catch him? Stent is heading to open class and raced well on this track last autumn. He looks the biggest and only danger.

Third leg, R11:

Some high class three-year-olds here but Topshelf Attitude (5) and Cyamach (1) deserve favouritism over their southern rivals Stingray (4) and Beau Vite (10). Cyamach has gate speed and should lead or trail from where he is the one to beat but Topshelf Attitude has got better with every start this campaign and can easily pace 2:42 for the 2200m. Stingray was outstanding winning the Sires' Stakes Silver on Show Day but meets a couple of finalists from that series here so this is a step up. Beau Vite returns to his old home track and can win but might have to cover extra ground, which would be tricky in this race.

Leg 4, R12:

All Star Man (7) will be many punters' anchor after two huge wins at Kaikoura and Addington lately. Tricky draw but should be able to overcome it. Tiago Bromac (6) has been racing well in weaker field but looks better than this grade while Pass Them By (4) is a bolter as he loves it when the pace is on. The other one you might need is Bettorbeastar (9) who was solid last start after being made to work early.

Mick's Suggested Quaddie: 3/ 5-7/ 1-4-5-10/ 4-6-7.

Mick's Saver Quaddie: 2-8-9/ 5-7/ 1-4-5-10/ 4-6-7.

Mick's race-by-race selections:

R1: Realmein, Rare Opportunity, Silver Whisp.

R2: Royal Mach, The Bucket List, Medley Moose.

R3: Five Card Draw, Arden Rooney, Bit Of A Legend.

R4: Delightful Christian, Realatthetime, Living The Dream.

R5: Bettor Cover Lover, Elusive Chick, Averil's Quest.

R6: Adore Me, Kabet, Georgia's Jury.

R7: Bettor Dream, O Baby, The Wild Card.

R8: I Can Doosit, The Fiery Ginga, Escapee.

R9: Smolda, Jivin Cullen, Pembrook Benny.

R10: Master Lavros, Stent, Di Maggio.

R11: Cyamach, Topshelf Attitude, Beau Vite.

R12: All Star Man, Tiago Bromac, Pass Them By.

Best Bet: Adore Me (R6).

Roughie: Mitchell (R1).

Value Bets with Trottech:

R1: Irvin (9) - he's no Lyell Creek but he's progressing. His dam kept improving throughout her career too - a real trait of the stock of Sergio Hanover. Suggested Bet: Each-Way, weighted to the place.

R2: The Bucket List (4) - really like the cut of this horse's jib. He was unlucky to run into a very classy customer last week. He's the one I'll be coupling up with Royal Mach. Suggested Bet: Trifectas and First 4s with Royal Mach on top; him for second.

R3: Classisistar (6) - he was one of the Black Bookers from the Sires Stakes Final. This draw could play in his favour as he'll do no work yet stay near the speed. I think you might get false odds about him. Suggested Bet: as the value in the race work combination bets around him with Five Card Draw.

R4: Realatthetime (3) - she put the writing on the wall with a stunning finish last week in a strong, competitive race. They did come back to her late but that was the run of a next-up winner. Suggested Bet: Solid Each-Way prospect.

R5: Southwind Arden (6) - I thought her effort to run a solid fifth in better than 4:00 first-up was tops. She backed that up with a strong trial before coming north. She can test Betty. Suggested Bet: Banker her in exotics behind Bettor Cover Lover. Take some cover with her on top, just in case.

R6: Splendour (9) - always thought she was nice filly but went up in my estimations with her bold finishing run last week. She's drawn to get a soft run and to lob into a placing. Suggested Bet: Don't leave her out of combos and/or back her to place.

R7: Fiery Achiever (1) - taking a punt on him being good this way around but he runs out a bit left-handed so here's hoping. He's a horse that's had zero luck from poor draws in hot fields of late. This could be his break. Suggested Bet: Each-Way and Bettor Dream in the quinella.

R8: The Fiery Ginga (2) - if he wins I can claim to be Nostradamus but when I Can Doosit has won 17 on end there's not much more to say there. The Fiery Ginga's recent trial at home was superb & reports are he's worked very well since hitting Auckland. Suggested Bet: Back him to run second, either to place or in exotics.

R9: Jivin Cullen (2) - I can't go past this statistic: seven standing starts for seven wins. It's a great field but that is a compelling number. Suggested Bet: Place.

R10: Stent (7) - I still wake in a cold sweat with visions of Stent flying home in the Jewels. Can't get that run out of my head. Happy to take on Master Lavros, especially with Stent having been here before. A corn kept him out of play on Cup Day. Suggested Bet: Back Stent to win. Chance to get a div.

R11: Stingray (4) - his was some run last time on Show Day. Don't under-estimate the quality of the field he ran past in the straight. I can see midrace action here and that making it for a swooper like Stingray. And who didn't love the TV series? Suggested Bet: Each-Way.

R12: Pass Them By (4) - this horse races like he can work through the grades and compete at quite a high level, in time. Very durable, genuine horse that gets into the race well. A nice each-way prospect. Suggested Bet: Anchor in a roving banker trifecta. Curious race that could yield some surprising divvies.
