Allan Davis scored hsi 1,000th career win Monday

DOVER, Del.---- Allan Davis recorded his 999th and 1,000th career wins drive Winbak Speedi to a come-from-behind 1:54.3 victory in one of two $14,500 4&5-Year-Old Mares Winners-Over co-features and then winning the other division with Arc De Triumph at Dover Downs on 'President's day' Monday, Feb. 17.

After consecutive second-place finishes by a head, Winbak Speedi broke into the win column for Bay Pond Racing Stable with her first win of the new season in the first section. The five-year-old chestnut mare by Riverboat King-Speedy Towner turned back seven rivals. In the last race of the day, driving Arc De Triumph, Davis wove has way through the field to take the lead at the head of the stretch and then pulled off for victory #1,000. Fred Hertrick and Bob Tribbett own the Tell All-Animated Art gelding who also won his first of the year.

To keep it in the family, Eddie Davis Jr. also had a two-bagger. His wins came driving Norma Messick and trainer Timmy Torbert's Roddy's Girl in a Delaware $10,000 Mares Claiming Allowance in 1:54 and later Mrs. Messick's Susan's Desire, a 1:55.3 success in a $12,000 4&5-Year-Old Mares pace. Corey Callahan added to his season high and track meet total with a driving triple.

Monday through Thursday post time is 4:30 p.m. There is no live racing on Fridays and Saturdays. Sunday post time is 4:30 p.m. To watch races and dine in the Winner's Circle restaurant, call 302-674-4600 for reservations.

There is no charge for parking or admission when visiting Dover Downs. Leading harness and thoroughbred simulcasts are featured from 12 Noon until 12 Midnight in the Dover Downs Race and Sports Book.
