Alta Christiano
Alta Christiano - Has gone amiss again.

Outstanding four-year-old Alta Christiano has broken down again and plans for him to contest the $200,000 Chariots of Fire at Menangle on March 2 have been abandoned.

"He worked on the track at home on Saturday morning and pulled up sore," said leading trainer Gary Hall sen. "He has torn the suspensory ligament in the near foreleg, above the previous injury and was treated by the vet. this (Tuesday) morning.

Hall had held high hopes of Alta Christiano winning the Chariots of Fire to make amends for the defeat of champion Im Themightyquinn, who finished a head second to Maffioso in the Chariots of Fire in July 2009.

The New Zealand-bred Alta Christiano has raced only 11 times for seven wins and one placings for $241,614 in prizemoney. He is undefeated at three Western Australian starts early last year, inlcuding the Western Gateway Classic and WA Derby.

Soon after that Alta Christiano tore his near fore suspensory ligament and in July he was fighting for survival after an adverse reaction to stem cell surgery. Earlier in the year he fractured a pastern during a race at Addington.
