Five newcomers will join four GLADA 'regulars' on Monday, June 7th at Hazel Park Raceway in suburban Detroit. The fifth race on the betting program will feature Week Four Action in the summer harness racing series that benefits charities. For purposes of the series, the word 'amateur' means the driver has not accepted compensation for his drives during the past ten years
. The one mile trot carries a purse of $2,700 for conditioned trotters or $7,500 claimers.
Favoritism in Monday's skirmish will likely be found on the rail, post position one, where Joe Cirasuola will direct four-time winner this year Headed For Glory. Another newcomer to the series, Canadian based Marty Adler will launch alongside of Joe in rein to Playboy Prize. Driver-trainer Richard Sockow debuts behind Winwood Sasha, James McIlmurray gets the assignment behind One Tough Night and making his driving debut after a three absence will be familiar racetrack photographer Ed Embach who will start from the clouds in post position nine behind YF Angel.
The five new members of GLADA will encounter regular Monday night performers Steve Oldford who will be directing the John Kina trained Hulk Logan, Kelly Walker at the controls of Tim Driver trainee Nordic Gentleman, Hazel Park Assistant Race Secretary Dennis Walton who guides Sunset Lady and Jim Ingersoll, the most consistent driver in the field with three consecutive third place finishes handling his own late charger, Caballo Diablo.
Noticeably absent from this week's competition is current GLADA point leader and two time winner in the series, Mike Mitchell along with last weeks romping longshot winner Craig Sebert.
