The next amateur course could be held on the weekend of October 12-13th at Alexandra Park. This will be a combined course for beginners and for those with some experience.
We have had many people do the introductory course who have never touched a horse before so the course is well geared to overcome any fear or lack of experience the participants may have.
Introductory and advanced courses are held at the same time to give drivers the opportunity to drive in larger groups similar to the race situation. The introductory group develop their skills in the dual sulkies and learn gearing up and handling horses. The advanced group move into single sulkies although they will still drive in the dual sulkies as well. Both courses go from behind the mobile gate on Sunday.
If you would like to attend the October 12-13th course please fill in the attached application form and return it with a cheque to Anne Phillips as soon as possible.
Please at least advise us if you are interested in attending this course.
The cost for the weekend course is $400. A further difficulty we will have is with cancellations. We will only be able to run courses with a minimum of 10 people attending therefore all 10 will need to have sent in an application form and have paid for the course 7 days prior to the commencement date of the course. Cheques will only be banked on the Monday before the start of the course. While fees will be refunded if the course is cancelled it is unlikely that we will be able to provide a refund for non attendance. However the indications are that we will fill this course.

For both courses participants will need: comfortable clothing and footwear suitable to wear around horses. Sport shoes or other closed toe shoes are necessary and long sleeves and pants rather than T-shirts and shorts are suggested. A jacket is a good idea; the wind can be chilly when you are going fast.
If you have your own helmet and safety vest it is a good idea to bring them although we do supply helmets, goggles and safety vests.
The course starts at 9am Saturday morning assembling in the Stables café at Alexandra Park next to the stables.
Lunch can be bought at the Sports Bar
We aim to be finished and have the horses in their boxes by 4pm each day.
