Harness racing driver Andy Miller swept both $21,000 divisions of the New Jersey Sire Stakes for two-year-old trotting colts and geldings and An $18,700 division for pacing fillies Friday night at Meadowlands Racetrack.
Easy As You Go and Miller edged out after a perfect pocket trip, gliding past runner-up Guccio to win the first NJSS division for trotters. The colt by-Cleopatra Ambrosio posted his first career win in 1:58.2 over the sloppy track. Easy As You Go was purchased for a mere $1,000 as a yearling at the New Jersey Classic Sale by owner-trainer Tony Dinges of Pittston, PA. He paid $11.00 to win. Big Chocolate finished third.
Vic Smith captured his second straight NJSS win for Miller in the second division, posting a mark of 1:57.4. Andy’s wife, Julie, trains the son of-PJ Naomi. He was a $30,000 yearling purchase from Lexington Selected Sales in Lexington, KY by the Millers and Baron Racing Stables of Horsham, PA. Little Brown Fox finished a length back in second while Megamuscle was third. Vic Smith returned $2.80.
Miller completed the hat trick with Denyittotheend [$31.60] in the first of three divisions for pacing fillies. The race went in 1:56.1.
Yannick Gingras steered Notreadytobenice [$4.20] to win the second division in 1:54.4. In the final division for $19,200, Ron pierce guided Pirouette Hanover [$4.60] to victory in 1:54.4.
Harness action continues Saturday night with two eliminations for the $1 million Meadowlands Pace, which will be contested on July 16.
