Anndrovette gets by Monkey On My Wheel at the wire

Unlike most of the year, Anndrovette actually got perfect live cover and was able to post a head victory over pacesetter Monkey On My Wheel in winning the $25,000 Breeders Crown elimination division for older pacing mares in 1:49.1 Saturday at Pocono Downs..

Both Monkey On My Wheel (Brian Sears) and Anndrovette (Tim Tetrick) left from the gate with Monkey On My Wheel getting to the lead to the opening quarter mile in :26.2. They raced that way to the half mile in :55.1.

Then in the backstretch Shelliscape and driver David Miller, who was floating first-over earlier started to charge up on the outside giving cover to race favorite Rocklamation (Yannick Gingras) through the three-quarters in 1:22.

As they started down the stretch, Monkey On My Wheel was still in command but coming up the passing lane was Anndrovette, who inched her way closer and closer and just got up at the finish. Shelliscape was third.

“I got away in the two hole and followed Casie’s horse,” Said driver Tim Tetrick. “When I went inside from the pocket my horse really exploded and she got up for the win.”

It was the seventh win this for the world champion Anndrovette. The six-year-old mare by Riverboat King is trained by PJ Fraley and is owned by the Bamond Racing Stable and Joseph Davino, both of New Jersey.
