The Art Major mare Simply Stunning has always looked a touch above average since first stepping onto a harness racing track eighteen months ago.
If she gets a run to suit she has the ability to run over the top of you late in the piece and that is exactly what she did in the fillies and mares race over 1700 meters at Cambridge Raceway tonight. (7th august)
Restrained off the gate tonight from barrier six by driver Todd MacFarlane, Simply Stunning settled three back in the running line as Nicole Vaidisova and Jay Abernethy set a hectic pace in front.
No mid race moves due to the solid clip in front meant Simply Stunning was still several lengths off the leader as they turned for home but as she can do when she gets a soft run, Simply Stunning flew home late to nab Nicole Vaidisova close to home for a stylish victory.
She paced the 1700 meters in a smart 2;03.1, a mile rate of 1:56.5 with closing sectionals of 58.9 and 29.
Trained by Todd MacFarlane and Craig Sharpe,it was the 4 year old daughter of Art Major's fourth win and won't be her last for sure.
Bred by Chris and Tina Barlow of Highfields Bloodstock, Simply Stunning is a real "blue blood"
She is a half sister to Definance 1:52.6 ($498,050) Lavros Odysseus 1:54.4 ($120,588) and Ultimo 2:01 ($54,368).
Her dam is a half sister to Elmer Gantry 1:56.7 ($377,024) and to the dam of Highest Honour 1;57.2 ($232,886)
Whatever Simply Stunning does on the track, her breeding and 1:56.5 time beside her name means she has a big future when retired to stud.
