The champions of the 2013 Atlantic Sires Stakes race season were crowned on Sunday afternoon during an action packed race card at Red Shores Charlottetown Driving Park.
The Atlantic Breeders Crown Weekend of Champions featured the best two and three-year old pacers and trotters of the Atlantic Sires Stakes season.
Untouchable One captured the three-year-old pacing colt championship under the command of Kenny Arsenault in a time of 1:56.1. The brown pacing gelding is owned by the Dooley Boys Racing Stables of Halifax, NS, and was bred by Cheryl Geldart Greer of Norton, NB.
The three-year-old pacing filly crown was awarded to Ramblinglily when she and driver Brodie MacPhee crossed the finish line in 1:56.3 for owner Normand Leger of Shediac, NB. The championship filly was bred by Allan Jones of Riverview, NB, and Normand Leger.
The title of two-year pacing colt of the year went to Dumas Walker. The colt clocked a time of 1:57.4 with driver and co-owner Myles Heffernan of Glace Bay, NS. Joseph Poirier of Reserve Mines shares the ownership papers on this colt which was bred by David Walker of Charlottetown, PE, and Paul Walker of Summerville, PE.
Meanwhile Saulsbrook Alana set a new track record for two-year-old pacing fillies when she crossed the finish line in 1:56. Reginald MacPherson of Stratford, PE, owns the winning filly which was bred by William Allan McNeil of Windsor, NS and Louis Willinger of Louisville, KY.
Phantom Beau and driver Kenny Arsenault took first place honours in the two-year-old trot Invitational for owner-breeder Peter Breau of Moncton, NB. Meanwhile Oceanview Kate and driver Mike Stevenson crossed the finish line first in the three-year-old trot Invitational for owner William Roloson of Belfast, PE. The trotting filly was bred by Meridian Farms of Calgary, AB.
