Summerside, PE – Red Shores Summerside will host two divisions of the Atlantic Aged Pacing Mares Sunday. Post time is 1pm. The harness racing event is presented by Standardbred Canada and Red Shores with stops at Maritime locations with the mares with the most points coming back to Summerside to compete in the final on October 4.
Newcomer Romance in Camelot, a winner in her Island debut for Terry Gallant, lands on the pylons in the first $3,465 division on race 8 scheduled for post at 3pm AST. The seven-year-old mare meets Dirt Track Momma (Marc Campbell) and Ramblinglily (Walter Cheverie) in the contest which also includes General Luckypercy, Stayoutofmyaffair and newbies Best Risque and Lucksgottachange.
Rose Valley trained by veteran horseman Mike Campbell, leads the way into the next division of the mares in race 11. Campbell has listed the services of Kenny Arsenault and takes on Jackie Matheson trainee For All We Know for owner Bruce Wood, Marshfield and driver Gary Chappell. Summerside race analyst Jared Stretch is going to another contender in field with Willow Warrior for trainer Brendon Curran and his driver Mark Bradley. " She'll have her work cut out for her but this mare can turn up the heat quickly," said Stretch. "She's done everything but win this season and she's always game to battle." It's a deep stacked field with Brodys Leona, Bettim Jenny, Bunny Mach, Howmac Missy and Roca Rei.
The preferred pace comes in race 12 at 4:08pm AST with J RS Hurricane labeled as the one to catch from the Jean Charles Belliveau stable with Corey MacPherson in the bike. Heavy hitter Outside The Wire, trained by Craig Avery, will be a factor along with American Captain, Darth Bader, Smiley Bayama and Machinthesand.
