Award recipients combined own 40,000+ wins

When the golden era award recipients gather at the October 23rd awards program of the New England Harness Racing Writers, they put forth a combined career total of more than 40,000 wins.

Leading the array of half century harness winning greats is Maine's Leigh Fitch. (7,547) who is ranked 22nd in the U.S. driver standings, followed by Ted Wing (5,130), John Hogan, (4,614), Jim Doherty (4,597), Don Richards (4,204) and Marfk Beckwith (4,2480).

Owners who will be cited for their years in the sport include the Antonacci family, Roger Slobody, David McDuffee, the Beckwith family John Nason and family, Paul Fontaine, esq., and Barrie and Roger Farrar.

William Faucher and Doherty will receive dual awards. Faucher will be awarded the Joseph A. Vaccaro Memorial Award, while Doherty, a 2002 inductee to the living hall of fame at Goshen, N.Y. will receive the chapters 12th Iron Man award.

Both will also be recipients of golden era awards.

Don Marean. USTA District 9 (New England) chairman, will receive the chapter's President's Award.

Headlining the New England chapter's 50th anniversary event are the 2011 chapter hall of famers. Namely, Freeman Parker, Stan Gutkowski, William D. Ellis, Ronald Ralph, Diann Perkins, and *Del Cameron.
