Balmoral Park will present their 4th Annual Celebrity Driving Challenge on Saturday, August 20.
This fun filled event will pit local media members and former Chicago sports stars against each other in a pair of $5000 tussles which will benefit an array of charities.
Carded after races two and three on our regular 12-race program these events will each feature five celebrity drivers and five Balmoral Park reinsmen teaming up on our unique double-seated jog carts.
These “teams” will battle for the $10,000 in “purse money” which will be donated to such wonderful charities as the St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Make A Wish Foundation, Children’s Cancer Research, Cure Autism Now, Multiple Sclerosis Research, Chicago Challenge, Research for Neuroblastoma, Equine Dreams and Momence High School Activities Fund.
Among the sports stars and media members who will be competing in these are events are NHL Hall of Famer and current Chicago Blackhawk Assistant Coach Denis Savard; 3-time NBA All Star and former Chicago Bulls guard Norm Van Lier; 18-year MLB pitcher Danwho ranks four in major league history for appearances by a pitcher; former Chicago Cub pitcher Milt Pappas who amassed 209 wins over a 17-year big league career; former Chicago White Sox outfielder John Cangelosi who enjoyed a very successful 13-year major league career; former University Of Illinois star linebacker John Holecek who spent 7 seasons in the NFL; John Jurkovic, a 9 year NFL veteran and current ESPN 1000 mid-day host; Harry Teinowitz, ESPN 1000 mid-day host of the Mac, Jurko & Harry Show; Liane Davis, a defending champion in this event and co-host of the popular Horsin Around TV Show on Comcast Sports; and Fred Huebner, co-host of the Mike North morning show on WSCR (The Score 670) Radio.
ESPN 1000’s Dan McNeil will provide the colorful call of both races!
