With the New Year approaching quickly Balmoral Park has announced their holiday schedule along with the changes that will be taking place effective January 1, 2006.

There will be no live racing on Saturday, December 24 or Sunday, December 25 at Balmoral Park.

Live racing will resume on Tuesday, December 27 with a post time of 7.40 pm. Balmoral will then race again on Thursday, December 29 at the regularly scheduled time of 7.40 pm. On Saturday, December 31, Balmoral Park will ring in the New Year with a special post time of 6.30 pm. The 12-race card is scheduled to wrap up just after 10.00 pm allowing fans time to get wherever they are headed for the countdown to 2006.

Balmoral Park will present live racing on Sunday, January 1 with a post time of 6.30 pm. A special Super Fest Buffet featuring crab legs, carved prime rib, shrimp, a pasta table and an elaborate desert table will be offered for just $12.95 that evening.

During the first seven weeks of the 2006 season Balmoral Park will present live racing on Tuesday & Wednesday’s with a new post time of 7.20 pm. Balmoral will be dark on Thursday and Friday as the racing action shifts to Maywood Park on those nights.

Balmoral will be back in action with double-header Saturday’s. Post time for the matinee program will be 1.00 pm while the night card gets underway at 7.20 pm. Balmoral will also race on Sunday night’s with its regular 6.30 pm post time in effect. Monday’s will be “dark” days for live racing in the Chicagoland area but both Balmoral and Maywood will be open for simulcast action from throughout the country both day and night.

A $20,000 Handicapping contest will also be featured during the matinee programs on Saturday’s. The six qualifying rounds will take place on January 7, 14, 21 and 28, and February 4 and 11. The top 10 finishers in each qualifier will then move on to the big $20,000 finale on Saturday, February 18. The top four finishers each week will also win cash prizes and the top two finishers in the final will win a trip to the Meadowlands for the National Harness Handicapping Championship. There will be a $10 entry fee during each of the qualifying rounds.

Pro football fans will be able to watch their favorite teams during the playoffs while wagering on the races at Balmoral Park. There will be food and drink specials during the games with large banks of televisions tuned into the playoff games.
