Action in the C.K.G. Billings Amateur driving Series continues this weekend at Balmoral Park on Saturday, June 4 and at Harrington Raceway on Sunday, June 5.

One division for members of the Mid-west region will be contested before the betting card gets underway at Balmoral Park on Saturday, while two splits in Eastern region action are carded before the racing program at Harrington Raceway on Sunday.

Among the top amateurs featured at Balmoral Park is last year National Amateur Driver of the Year, Dein Spriggs, who is the current point leader (39) in the Mid-west. He’ll handle Canbertil from post 10.

However, two who’ll have to be reckoned with are Bud Hatfield and Gene Miller.

Hatfield, currently second on the list with 29 points will drive Before the Rain from post two, while Miller, in third place with 27 points, will rein his old warhorse, Bingham, the 10-Year-Old Darvin gelding who’ll be seeking his 97th lifetime victory.

At Harrington Raceway many of the point leaders in the east region will be in action headed by the current leader Steve Markoff, whose 33 is four points better than runner-up Rob Krivelin, who, by the way, will be idle that afternoon.

Markoff will drive Bang Zoom from post seven in the first split there.

Others in the top ten in seasonal points who’ll also be in action at the Delaware half-mile oval include: George Casale (third-28 points); Scott Woogen; (fourth-24 points); and Joe Faraldo (sixth-19 points), all of whom are in the first event and will be competing against Markoff.

Paul Minore, ninth on the current list with 15 points will handle RW Buckshot from post six considered the one to beat in the second split though trouble could be loom with the presence Sonic Marvel, who’ll be handled by Terry Donnelly from the pylon position.
