The meet's leading driver, George Napolitano Jr., sent Boffin on a three-wide sweep from fifth nearing the ¾, and the altered son of Donato Hanover took all forward steps from there, gaining the lead turning for home in winning by 2½ lengths, over Watkins, with pacesetter Commentary holding on for third.
Boffin has now won almost 1/3 of his career starts (31 of 94), and has earned $375,102; Anette Lorentzon trains him and is co-owner with ACL Stuteri AB and Kjell Johansson.
In the $18,000 pacing feature, Lone Survivor, looking buried fourth on the wood past the 5/8, got some racing luck, then used it to maximum advantage while taking a lifetime mark of 1:52.3. Pacesetter Hurrikane Ali broke when a challenge from pocketsitter Dontcallmefrancis started midturn, with Nimble And Quick two-wide behind that one; driver Anthony Napolitano got Lone Survivor around the breaker then ducked back inside, and the winning son of Art Major was able to charge up the Pocono Pike to win by 1¼ lengths. Nimble And Quick, the only 2YO Stallion Series champion able to defend his title at three last month, was along for second, a neck behind Dontcallmefrancis. Lone Survivor, who has bankrolled by $167,685, is trained by Richard Johnson for Joseph Bongiorno LLC and Michelle Yanek.
