LEBANON, OH. – With several of Miami Valley's top trotters taking Easter Sunday off, Boffin (Chris Page) took full advantage by hopping into the winner's circle following the featured $14,850 Open.
The five-year-old son of Donato Hanover enjoyed a perfect pocket trip behind favored Celebrity Hercules (Dan Noble) before easing to the outside in early stretch and coasting to a relatively easy victory over the front-stepper and Boy Meets Girl K (Jason Brewer) in 1:55.2.
It was Boffin's fourth win in his last six starts, but first in open company since moving to Ohio in February. Angela Coombs owns the winner who is rapidly approaching the $200,000 earnings plateau.
Earlier on the card, Cantab Lindy (Shawn Barker II) edged Deck The Halls (Chris Page) and Kaffir Kemp (Randy Tharps) in a $12,100 top conditions trot. Brent Davis owns and trains the winner who scored in 1:55.1 in just his third start of the year.
Also featured was the $10,000 second leg of the Dr. Dan Farwick Memorial Series for trotters shy of six pari-mutuel wins or $50,000 at the March 1 nomination deadline. Touchdown AS (Tyler Smith) cemented his spot in the final next Sunday by rallying down the middle of the stretch to a 1:55.3 triumph over Atlas Peak (Sandy Beatty) and Skates N Plates (Chris Page).
