It is already March and that means the NCAA tourney gets started and the Harness Racing schedule gets revamped.
No more double cards for Balmoral on Saturdays and Tuesday night racing returns to Balmoral. Of Course, you can catch all the NCAA action at your local OTB along with all the Illinois Harness racing action. It is a great time for all at OTB as the Triple Crown heats up for you flats players.
The fourth race on Saturdays card is for non winners of $7,500 in their last five. Many horses make a strong case for consideration in this contest. Chief Red Cloud looked good in getting a win last week and draws well. Oreti Beach also comes off a win last week in the slop, going 201.3, with the connections alone a shot must be given. Thisbigdogwilfight is coming off a qualifier in which this dog paced 158.1 while finishing first and not having to push to do it, a big shot in this race. However, I will put $50 to win on Jo Pa's Bench Mark. Jo Pa's Bench Mark finished second last week at Maywood , where he paced 154.4 from the second post position, very impressive in trying to chase down Dashing Diplomat.
In the Free For All seventh race, it looks to truly be a free for all for the line. All pacers are in form for this contest and Dashing Diplomat enters the fray. Diplomat paced well last week, but I feel he'll be overmatched this evening. I am looking for a bit of a price and will put $50 to win on the one, Tycoon Hanover . Tycoon Hanover paced from the six spot last week at Maywood and made up a lot of ground three wide in the stretch. I feel that one of the many contenders will provide needed cover and Tycoon Hanover will get up in time with a rail skimming trip.
In contrast to the races above, in the tenth race whoever crosses the line first may be doing it by accident. This is a $6,000 claiming contest for $4,200. Mr. Bud Weisar has been racing a lot of late and looks to need a break, drawing the outside won't help likely favorites cause. Town Bullet, with hot driver, Nick Clegg in the bike, also looks on paper to be the best of the bunch. I'll take a pass and take a shot on the one, Midwich Hanover. Midwich broke before the start of his most recent start, but this week gets the softer hands of Dave Magee in the bike and should be a pretty good price. Get $50 on Midwich Hanover to win.
It is a fourteen race card this Saturday at Balmoral and should be filled with some very exciting harness racing. Many OTB locations will be running specials for March Madness over the next month, so not only can you GET LUCKY…HAVE FUN and WIN MONEY! But you can get a great deal on a couple of cold, cold, cold Miller Lites.
