Although trainer Bob McIntosh had intended to give Stonebridge Regal some rest after the Meadowlands Pace, he made a last minute change in plan and is sending Stonebridge Regal to the American National.
, along with Team Hutch and Odds On Duane, was given a bye into the $250,000 American National Final based on the highest season earnings among the 13 horses entered.
Eliminations for the other 10 entrants are set for Saturday night (July 23) and the Final will take place next Saturday, July 30.
“I didn’t have to face any of Pelling’s entries so it was a good place to go,” trainer Bob McIntosh told Trot Insider on Friday morning (July 22) of not having to compete against, or Cams Fool, all of whom are trained by Brett Pelling.
cIntosh said( -Lady Joanna) came out of the Meadowlands Pace Final in great shape in spite of an equipment break and will be ready for the Am Nat next Saturday.
“That hurt him a little,” McIntosh said of the equipment break. “When you race in a three-horse entry it’s tough too.
“He’s amazing. He’s glad to be home and so far there are no changes in him. He’s got a big year to go and I was really proud of the way he raced in the Meadowlands Pace.”
McIntosh co-ownswith Robert Kauffman of New Albany, Ohio, Angie Stiller of Arva, Ont. and the W Springtime Racing Stable of Johnstown, New York.
Unraced at two, the colt has 10 wins in 15 starts and $680,350 in earnings this year.
