The Barrier Draw for Friday night’s $200,000 Sky Racing Harness Racing WA Derby at Gloucester Park has thrown the Blue Riband event wide open with nominal favourites Chicago Bull and Lets Chase The Dream drawing outside starting positions.
Western Gateway winner Chicago Bull has drawn barrier six, while the Mark Purdon and Natalie Rasmussen trained Lets Chase The Dream, to be once again be driven by Chris Lewis, is on his immediate outside in barrier seven.
The Matthew Craven trained and driven Cant Refuse will start on the inside of the backline in barrier 10, with the only filly in the field, Dodolicious in barrier 11, having her first start back since her outstanding second in the NSW Oaks at Menangle on Miracle Mile day. Dodolicious’ stablemate El Jacko is the only other runner on the second line in barrier 12.
Victorian Derby heat winner Sprinter has drawn awkward in barrier eight, however his stablemate Ideal Tyson has come up with the coveted barrier one.
The line-up is one of the strongest in recent WA Derby history.

There are 10 races on Friday night at Gloucester Park, with the first race scheduled for 5.33pm WA time and gates open at 4.30pm. Sky Racing’s Gareth Hall will be live trackside with all the action broadcast on Sky1.
